what is my story?
This past weekend was quite a blur and I honestly lost track of time. In the midst of studying, I filmed a video for Asian Kaleidoscope Month defining this year’s theme, what’s your story? Although I didn’t have a concrete idea of what the theme to my video is, Jon DelRosario was able to freely capture some footage that basically sums up… me. I probably chose the worst day...

The setting for the first picture reminds me of the 1950’s and eludes a sense of Western romanticism. It amazes me how each photo evokes a different feeling and has its own unique, yet cohesive story. (Photo Credit: Phat Tran, model Amanda Pham)

young and free
A few months ago Phat Tran and I talked about a collaboration and it’s crazy how quickly it all came together this past weekend. Shooting for over 10 hours, Phat was able to capture beautiful photos that both embody his artistic vision and my sense of style. And Amanda, Miss Vietnam Florida 2011, was not only a gorgeous model, she was a trooper and bore through the erratic humid weather. At...

Underneath it all
Picking up from a few months of idle time, I finally found the motivation to start blogging again. In April, I had the opportunity to volunteer at Gainesville Fashion Week and as expected, it was a series of spectacular shows. Working behind the scenes, however, definitely gave me a humble outlook and a deeper understanding. Through the chaos, clothes were flying off and designers were holding...

DIY: Ribbon Tiered Necklace
For awhile I have been pushing myself to make jewelry pieces since accessories can enhance any outfit. I never knew how elaborate jewelry-making can be; from buying tiny crystals, hooks, chains, and clasps to finding a creative way to design the ribbon. It was a learning experience and this is definitely a start to more ventures and ideas. Here are some pictures of my first project: a ribbon...

Springing Forward
I have always admired fashion shows, spotlights, and the beautiful models and never did I picture that one day I would get the opportunity to put on an event featuring my own designs. Humbled and honored, I worked for weeks to organize every little detail. Here are some of the behind-the-scenes pictures: (Urban Outfitters dress) Special thanks to: VSO, Serina, LA, Brian, Sabrina, Monica, and...

DIY: Braid Updo
Although hair is nowhere near my area of expertise, I thought it’d be fun to make a tutorial of this updo that I’ve been wearing a lot lately. The hairstyle requires curling and French braiding techniques, but overall it is extremely simple. With a few bobby pins and flowers (optional), this hairdo can be worn casually or for a special occasion! Click on each image to view its full...

DIY: Home Decorating
I love personalizing my bedroom and apartment with simple and easy-to-make decor items. I bought blue suede and olive green linen fabric from Joann Fabrics to construct a throw pillow cover and some place mats. Cutting them into square shapes, I sewed the two sides together and turned them inside out to hide the seam lines. Finally, I stuffed a pillow (any old, unwanted pillow) inside the cover...

Work in Progress: Sweet Spring!
100% Silk fabric is one of the most high-quality and lightweight fabric. Fortunately I was able to find some in several colors and prints at Jay’s Fabric Store. I’ve always loved bright colors and floral prints, which are great elements for the Spring season. I’m definitely excited and I can’t wait to start sewing again!

New Design: Lace Tank
Hey Guys!         As with any seasonal trend, lace is in for the Fall. “No, it’s not new. But, like all trends that span multiple seasons, it has evolved. Lace influences for Spring 2010, carrying over into Fall, are more to the classic side with quality antique-style fabrics the key to the trend” (Fashionising).         So I wanted to create a simple tank that can be used for...

Twisted Charmeuse Dress
Hey everyone!       I am happy to share with you guys my next design, a summer dress that I’ve been working hard on! I’ve always wanted to make a summer dress that exudes simplicity with a bohemian flare. The earth tone colors of the dress greatly compliment the skin, especially during summer. The dress is constructed with two layers, a floral print and a sheer ivory silk charmeuse...
